National team blog F3J 2020
April 11, 2020
Due to the Corona epidemic, the CI3 / FAI canceled the F3J World Championship. This is a hard blow for us, since we have undergone intensive training and have already made various purchases. It is still unclear how it will go on. The CIAM / FAI like the SMV will surely find a solution that is acceptable for the organizers of the competitions and the pilots. Regardless of how the SMV defines the national team's nomination for the coming year, Jean Thévenaz will no longer be there due to time constraints - too bad! Who will complement the national team could be exciting.
In addition to the cancellation of the World Cup, it is unfortunately not easy for our sponsors either, because this year no platform can be made available for their engagement. However, all sponsors have not withdrawn their support, which makes us extremely happy.
We will run the raffle as planned and there will be a lucky winner of a Maxas from Leomotion. We would also be happy if the CH trade was given active support after the Corona Kriese - the Hahnenmoss can still be flown into autumn. You may also have got a taste for testing Sutter's Flash Tape, we know nothing better. It's a small investment (only for tape), but it's worth it.
In this sense, we wish you all the best of health and hope that the spit will soon be over and we can indulge in our beautiful hobby again.

Our latest sponsor is Sutter Swiss Composite. Sutter sponsors the national team with the flash tape for fastening the wings. This is characterized by excellent gluing and easy removal. It is highly wearable and does not travel even with a brute landing. Sutter has a wide range, which makes the GFK / CFK model builder's heart beat faster. Everything can be found for the professional model maker via laminating resin system, various semi-finished products and fabrics. Have a look at Sutter! Thank you for the sponsorship flash

A winter league was announced again in Utzenstorf on March 14 - the last in the 2019-2020 season. The conditions were very varied. In the morning it was important to take care of the altitude, some pilots could not fly out the time frame. The conditions got better and better, some very good thermals - but they still had to be found. Sometimes heights of over 1000 meters were reached, which required good eyesight. Towards the end of the competition, the sun was covered again and the pilots had to work harder. But it was again the case that the front seats could not be reached with a bad flight. Consistency was again the key to achieving a good end result. The last date of the winter league was a lot of fun, especially because our training is starting to bear fruit.

The national team was training today in Utzenstorf. The weather was windy, but we were lucky that we were spared the rain. In the first part, the tactics for landings and take-offs were discussed. In the subsequent training sessions, attempts were then made to implement the theory as well as possible in practice. Not everything is perfect yet, but on this basis the individual training can be done more carefully and we can build on that in the upcoming training.

The Hahnenmoos is known across the Swiss borders for alpine gliding. In the summer, pilots from all over Europe meet in the unique slope region under the best conditions. Anyone who has been there before will not miss it. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there are unsuitable starting places for small and large models. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you can go to the more distant flight areas and then enjoy the unique alpine flying pleasure. The hotel on the Hahnenmoos offers modern accommodation with a rich culinary offer.
The Hahnenmoss sponsors us with a great amount that we will use well. Thanks a lot for this.

We found our first sponsor, it is Leomotion. Leomotion is known for exclusive engines from its own production and professional flight models. In addition to F3J models, various other competitive models from many manufacturers such as Vladimir, Baudis, GliderIT, Krill etc. are offered. Urs is characterized by his great know-how in all areas of model flying. Competent advice and great service are among his absolute strengths. We are very happy to have Leomotion as a sponsor. We will be giving away the sponsored Maxa in a raffle. More information about the raffle will follow .........

On January 18, the national team was at the winter league in Aadorf. The conditions have proven difficult for us, so there is still a lot to do.

We are pleased that you have landed on our site. We would like to keep you up to date on the participation of the Swiss national team in the F3J World Cup in the Slovakai from August 3rd to 8th, 2020 on this homepage. We will provide you with the most important information here and inform you about the preparations and the World Cup itself.
The national team's nominated pilots were already known in December, so that the most important preparations could already be initiated. First we booked an accommodation that is close to the flight area. We have also already found a team manager who will actively support us.
The World Cup and the Precontest take place in Tekovsky Hradok, which is about half an hour away from Levice. Further information can be found on the World Cup homepage. We will probably drive two cars to get all the material and the team to their destination. This World Cup will be flown with winches for the first time, and experience has already been gained at the EM last year. This is nothing new for us Swiss, since all Swiss competitions have been flown with winds for years. For the World Cup, however, this means a larger material battle than with a manual start. So we will probably arrive with 6 winches and as many batteries. This will allow us to have enough redundancy and to set up the winches with different rope diameters. This allows the pilot to decide which rope he will fly only shortly before takeoff.
With part of the national team, a first training session took place on January 5, Jean could not be there. There is still a lot to do before the World Cup - let's do it!
